When in Myeongdong

Korea Day 1

Myeongdong, South Korea

Incheon Airport

Incheon Airport
Our flight to Incheon International Airport was 20 minutes earlier than the original flight, thanks to AirAsia. Upon arrival, we took the shuttle train to immigration and baggage claim and the train arrives every 5 mins.

Incheon Airport

Once we are out of the immigration, we took the AREX express train which is a non-stop train for 8000won to Seoul Station. Travel time was around 45mins.

Seoul Station, very huge with a lot of different lines. We asked the customer assistance for help since the train was really confusing since there are so many lines. In order for us to get to the hotel, we need to take line 3 to Jongno 3(sam)gu, Metro Train, outside the Seoul station, turn right, and go down the escalator.

We also bought Tmoney which is 3000won and reloaded 5000won.

Jongno 3 (sam) gu Station

Their train station is really something. It has a lot of exits and according to Booking.com, it is 5-min walk from exit 4. Jongno 3(sam) gu station in exit 4 is like 3 floors under and there’s no escalators. It was really tiring!!! Anyway, I found exit 5 nearer (less stairs) to the hotel. Good thing there are maps found inside the station so you’ll see which exits are near to each other. I saw that it’s easier to just cross the street from exit 5 than go 5 levels of stairs and you’ll see exit 4 parallel to you hahaha!

Our hotel wasn’t really that easy to find. We tried asking locals for direction but even the guy from 7/11 doesnt know (or shy) to speak english to me. We were lucky to find these young couple who were glad to help us and took us to our hotel! Kamsahamnida!

Top Hotel & Residence Insadong

We checked in to our hotel but there was a problem with my card. I asked the receptionist if we need to pay in cash already and he said that I can just do it later. So he assisted us first to our room and went to Myeongdong to have our pesos changed and  check if my card has problems.

Myeongdong was just a few stations away from our hotel and I heard a lot about this place. So once we were able to settle in our room, we headed out and went to this place.

It was every girl’s dream place. A lot of makeup and skincare stores and street food! I was able to buy a lot from this place. You can see my haul here.

Around 10pm, we went back to our place and decided to try eating at the orange tents found in the streets. They set it up at night and serve food and beers. You can view details from my food trip post but here are some other photos we had inside that orange tent. The mussel soup was free and it was soooooo delicious! We even asked for refill. Food was great even though it was expensive. It’s a must-try in Korea for me.

That’s it for our first day & night in Korea.
